Dr. Ribot Delivers First Baby of 2010

Cartersville, GA; January 1, 2010:

Karleigh Deeanne Evans arrived at Cartersville Medical Center on Friday, January 1 at 1:53 a.m. and claimed the title of “First Baby of 2010”. Delivered by Dr. Hugo Ribot, Jr. and Certified Nurse Midwife Macie Goff, the baby weighs 7 lbs., 8.3 oz. and is 19” long. She is the daughter of Dee Evans of Cartersville and joins sister, Katlin, 6. In addition to family, she was welcomed by the staff of the Maternity Center (mother/baby floor) and showered with a basket full of gifts donated by local merchants and Cartersville Medical Center.

The baby also experienced her first brush with fame, as local media covered the announcement of the “New Year’s Baby” birth.

Gifts presented to the baby and her family ranged from baby items to home décor to a portrait session and package. Merchants donating gifts include:
c.a.n.o.p.y, Culinaria at Appalachian Grill, Epiphany Designs Flowers & Gifts, Gigi’s Hidden Treasures, Louis Tonsmeire Studio, Megpie, Periwinkle, PURE Aveda Salon, Room Within, Wall to Wall Frames, Cartersville Medical Center Gift Shop and Cartersville Medical Center Maternity Center.

Dr. Ribot has been on staff at Cartersville Medical Center for twenty years and served as chief of the medical staff last year. He is a board-certified fellow of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Macie Goff, RN, CNM, holds a master’s degree in nursing with a nurse midwifery specialty and, interestingly, she and Ms. Evans were kindergarten classmates. Both Ribot and Goff practice at Cartersville OB/GYN Associates. Cartersville Medical Center Maternity Center delivers over 1,000 babies annually.
